Akihiko Sato — photographer, tourism researcher, and destination strategist in Kushiro & Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Formerly with Kushiro Tourism & Convention Association (DMO), graduate of Hokkaido University Tourism Studies. Over ten years of hands-on work connecting government bodies, transport operators, and local businesses around one table — from master planning to on-site operations.
Projects range from municipality-commissioned destination strategies to adventure tourism films and AI search optimisation for DMOs. Depending on project scope, collaborative arrangements are formed with guides, creatives, and researchers across Hokkaido and beyond.
What we do
Tourism Development & Consulting
Destination master planning, consensus-building workshops, business plan development for municipalities and DMOs. We stay with the project until the plan comes down off the shelf and onto the ground.
Photo & Film Creative
Tourism promotion photography and film from planning to delivery — drone aerials, wildlife & winter landscape, brand films, short social videos. Specialist in scenes earned only by waiting.
Tour Design & Hands-on Support
Place-based and adventure tours built and refined on the ground — infrastructure tourism, nature photo tours, guide training. Operations kept running in local hands.
Tourism DX, Data & AI
People-flow and lodging data dashboards, AIO (AI search optimisation) for DMOs to be cited by generative AI, itinerary recommendation design, and KPI development.
